The BECC is looking forward to its 50th annual coin and currency show January 18-19, 2014, at the Kent Commons, 525 4th Avenue North, Kent, Washington. The show is the second largest in the Northwest with over 70 dealers participating and arguably the best liked show as well. Dealers and Buyers from across the country very much enjoy our venue because of the vast variety of numismatic materials available, the low cost to the dealers and the no-cost admittance and free parking.

The 2014 show may still have a small allotment of dealer tables available. BECC wishes to maintain about 70 dealers. Although the vast majority of our dealers come from up and down the west coast, we do have dealers that come from the east coast and midwest. Unlike most shows, we try to promote some of our newer dealers by giving them a premium spot their first year. Dealers may contact Greg Smith (e-mail smithgd11@comcast.net, phone 253-737-6268) for further discussion and bourse applications.

See 2014 coin show flyer in PDF format.

Wooden nickels and elongated cents with the Boeing CH-47 Helicopter design will be available at the coin show until supplies are exhausted. (One free wooden nickel and one free elongated cent per show attendee. Additional cents can be purchased.)

For regular BECC meetings, see the meetings & announcements page.

YN/Scout Merit Badge Activity - Two tables will be set aside at the 2014 coin show for a Young Numismatists (YN’s) display and info. The goal of the YN table and display is to encourage and inform kids about coin collecting and answer any questions they have. There will be a video display showing how coins are made. The gentleman working the table/display received his Eagle Scout award in 1982. He is at the show to assist scouts in working on their coin collecting badge. This is the same (Coin Collecting) merit badge counselor who assisted a number of Boy Scouts in completing their merit badge at the last two shows. Workshops for the Scouts to work on the Coin Collecting merit badge are Saturday (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.) and Sunday (10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. and 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.). Scouts may start the merit badge work in one session and finish it in a follow- up session. Scouts will need to attend one of the session to complete the merit badge. Please bring a ‘Blue card’, 5 state quarters (requirement #7) and a penny collection: birth year to 2013 (Requirement #9 Option “D”). If a scout is missing part of the birth year to 2012 set, there will be a penny search available at the YN table and they may go through on their own time to complete that requirement. For further information contact Anthony at mtns2hike@yahoo.com. See 2012 coin show photos (including YN area).
